Breath & Being was shaped through experience rather than ambition.

After thirteen years in a management career within the airline industry, Carolyn chose a different direction. Years of navigating anxiety, chronic stress, hormonal shifts, sleep disruption and life transitions revealed how powerfully the nervous system influences daily life.

Yoga and Pilates became anchors during seasons of exhaustion and identity change, especially while raising two daughters and rebuilding stability from within.

Through consistent practice, breath became the bridge back to steadiness. Strength returned gradually. Awareness replaced urgency. The body began to feel safe again.

Today, Breath & Being is a heart led yoga and Pilates studio in Lincoln, Christchurch created from that lived understanding. The space exists for people who are ready to reconnect with their bodies in a grounded and supported way.

Carolyn brings depth to her teaching through her 500 hour yoga certification, somatic yoga training, trauma sensitive yoga qualification, Pilates certification and mindfulness studies. Her background in counselling and Reiki further informs a calm and emotionally intelligent approach.

Classes are guided with care, clear language and an understanding of nervous system regulation.

This studio is especially meaningful for women navigating perimenopause and menopause, where anxiety, sleep changes and physical shifts often require informed support.

It also welcomes men seeking recovery from physical training, teenagers building confidence and children learning emotional awareness through movement.

At Breath & Being, practice is guided by breath first.

Each session blends strength, stability and softness in a way that supports real life beyond the mat. This is a place where progress unfolds steadily and people rebuild trust in their bodies over time.

Movement here is experienced from within.
